Curators and other professional staff working at museums (both full-time and part-time) with research experience. Applicants must have Japanese nationality or permanent residency, obtain a recommendation from a university professor or museum director, get approval from their institution's head if working away from their post, and obtain a guarantee of acceptance from the facility where the research will be conducted.
Applicants must be aged 20–39 (as of April 1, 2026), hold Japanese nationality or permanent residency in Japan, and engage in painting, sculpture, craft, curation, art conservation/restoration, or art education. Applicants must secure a host institution or supervisor abroad for a training period of 6 months to 1 year (up to 2 years for conservation), have necessary language skills, and not hold full-time employment during the training period.
Museum curators and professional staff (full-time or part-time) with research experience. Must have Japanese nationality or permanent residency in Japan. Must obtain a recommendation from a university professor or a registered museum director. Must secure approval from the head of the home institution and acceptance from the host institution.
Artists active in painting, sculpture, crafts, or individuals involved in exhibition planning, preservation/restoration, or education outreach. Must be between 20 and under 40 years old as of April 1, 2026. Must hold Japanese nationality or permanent residency. Must have guaranteed acceptance from an overseas host institution or instructor.
Japanese artists holding solo or group exhibitions overseas; organizations collaborating with overseas museums to present Japanese art; or organizers of international conferences, symposia, or exchange activities in Japan that invite foreign artists, curators, or researchers.
